Interaction Design course in IIT Mumbai

IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) is one of the prestegious institute in World. IIT is offering course on Interaction Design.

Is this course for Interaction design or Industrial design. Because in your subject line it says Interaction design but the application brochure says Industrial design. Even the sample questions are more related to Industrial design.

The MDes course very much covers interaction design. The details of the courses for interaction design masters are at http://www.idc.iitb.ac.in/academics/Interaction-design-course-credits.html .

"Industrial Design Centre" or IDC is the name of the design department in IIT Bombay. Currently, we offer four masters programmes in product design, visual communication design, interaction design and animation, in addition to a PhD in design.

The Common Entrance Exam for Design or CEED is a common design aptitude test for PG entrance to not only these four programmes in IDC, IIT Bombay but also to design programmes in IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IISc Bangalore and IIT Kanpur. CEED tests things like visual perception ability, drawing skills, logical reasoning, creativity and communication skills which are common to all streams of design.

Like GATE, CAT etc. CEED is only a qualifying exam, and those who pass CEED need to apply for specific disciplines in specific institutes. In case of interaction design in IITB, selected candidates are called to appear for another test followed by an interview. This second test is more specific to interaction design.

Please contact Mr.Anirudha Joshi for more details. Anirudha Joshi is a faculty member in the Industrial Design Centre (IDC), IIT Bombay.
